That fun entry I wanted to write
Jan. 13th, 2026 10:04 pmI'm so tired today. I had a doctor's appointment. The office required every 3 month to maintain my prescription for blood sugar meds and such. The follow up of the follow up of the follow up... For the past four years of follow ups.
It was a good one. My blood pressure was a lower normal reading, my weight was 13 pounds lighter. I'm morbidly obese so that's great news. Left with the promise of blood work in my future and the paperwork to get a mammogram.
The rest of the day was spent working on my farm in farm together 2 and avoiding playing dreamlight valley. I haven't wanted to play lately.
We had a sub for dinner because Ian's work got hectic in the late afternoon as one of his clients screwed up and made it Ian's problem. So when I mentioned the sub shop had a buy one get one sub...
Nori cuddled me a lot today as well. I also got the spreadsheet working again for the fanfiction yearly challenge on Tumblr.

It involves keeping track of the fanfiction I read and I'm curious which fandoms end up on top and which ships.
I finished reading my first book of the year last Friday. It was the English translation of a Chinese book. The English version is called to the sky kingdom by Tang Qi. The whole time I was reading it I couldn't put it down and thought it sounded like the C-dramas my best friend adores. And lol and behold it is. The drama is called Eternal Love and I'm enjoying watching it acted out but with changes of course. The book was better but
I see why they made it chronological the book is constantly switching times as she remembers things. But it was a great book that I apparently got years ago for free.
I'm also working on a book for the sub stack group Big Read where this year we are reading Les Miserables all year a chapter a day. So far I'm enjoying the read but I don't know anything about the plot and it's a slow but charming start.
Jasper has been sleeping through the night again for the past week hopefully he's over whatever was bugging him for the past few months since he had eye surgery. Where he'd come in screaming and scratch at my husband until Ian carried him to the couch and slept out there with him.
Let's see is there anything else going on? Hmm...
I made beef stroganoff with Spätzle for the noodles and it was so good. I'm going to be sad if Aldi's doesn't have the dried Spätzle noodles again. Last year they only had it for a few months.

There's the recipe if you want the most delicious beef stroganoff I've ever had. We used portalbella for the mushrooms as those are the only ones Ian likes.
Here we go a nice fun post that doesn't center around how stressful things are. It's almost like back in the good pre 2016 days...

Date: 2026-01-14 09:14 pm (UTC)I keep meaning to read some non-fanfiction books, but always end up going back to fanfiction. At least I'm reading.

Date: 2026-01-16 04:57 pm (UTC)The main fandom I've had the past couple of years has me in two minds as I didn't really like the spoilers I read for the final season and was already on the fence about stuff from the one before. Not to mention that I've been reading a lot about toxic fans (primarily in the original show and not the spin-off I had gotten hooked on) through discussions by others that (I'm equally baffled by it happening and thankful, that I've never ended up in the midst of it regardless of fandom).
And the two new shows I've been toying with (The Mentalist and Derry Girls), I'm not as invested in when it comes to fandom. Guess I'll have to keep looking. I've been watching a couple of people react to shows on YouTube and I'm considering to rewatch Doctor Who or Good Omens, but I'm not sure if either one will draw me back into those fandoms. Eventually something will come at me. And if it's an old one ready to rise from the ashes :D

Date: 2026-01-16 09:15 pm (UTC)Are you talking about the 911 fandom? I remember you made icons for that at one point and I have a few Tumblr friends that follow it and rant. I like the gif sets for Buck and Tommy and have read a fic or two but there's so many seasons I'm hesitant to begin! I know there was a lot of toxicity and some fans harassing the creators and actors...
Like the Star wars fandom. Oh man are they toxic... I miss the days when fans didn't have instant access to the cast and crew to harass them.
I've been thinking about rewatching Doctor Who at least from Nine to when Amy and Rory leave. And possibly making icons or babbling my thoughts as I watch and turning that into journal entries.
Any excuse to see Rose Tyler and Nine on my screen, lol.
I've also thought about rewatching the first two seasons of Sherlock or seeing if I want to finish Agents Of Shield.
I loved the first season but hated much of the second and third season before I quit watching... But it's possible my opinion could change...
I own some of those so I don't have to pay streaming which is always a plus.

Date: 2026-01-17 06:58 pm (UTC)Yes, I meant 9-1-1. That is to say, I intended to start watching the show and slid right into 9-1-1 Lone Star instead. I read a lot for 9-1-1, but haven't watched a single episode yet. I did watch a couple of clips here and there on YouTube. One of these days I'll start it, but I'm not sure if I'll watch everything. The upside and downside of spoilers: You know when things start to happen you'll likely hate.
There's toxicity between the fans of different characters and pairings and then there's the harassment of the actors. It's mind blowing. I think it's the problem of social media and everybody thinking they know someone they follow online (from youtube stars to actors to singers) and start having demands. As much as I appreciate fandom and its creative aspects being more accepted and less likely to draw legal consequences (I heard Anne Rice took legal steps against fanfiction about her books), I much preferred it when it was a bit (a lot) more removed from people involved with the source material in real life.
Maybe I should rewatch Star Wars now that you mentioned it. I've dabbled in the fandom every now and then. On the other hand, I'm also tempted to rewatch LotR/The Hobbit and see if I want to try that one again. I've recently read one for the Hobbit where several characters were sent back in time to fix their screw ups and half (?) of the Hobbits of the Shire moved to settle near Erebor.
As much as I loved Sherlock, I think it died when I hated how they handled him not being dead after all and his return. I couldn't get into that and it kind of tarnished my love for it. Oh well. Agents of Shield is a similar story. Although that was heavily influenced by my hatred for how Shield was torn down in the movie. Civil War kind of killed the whole MCU franchise for me. I did watch the next two Avengers movies and occasionally read something there. I didn't even watch the movie. It's just the premise of them fighting each other (and if anything, I'd be on Tony's side)
That's so true. I probably should check out what kind of DVDs I have. There are some I haven't touched yet. Like the later seasons of Criminal Minds. Too much choice and too easily distracted by random videos on YouTube.
