POLL: Rule change on being able to opt out of single drabbles

We'd like to get your input on a suggestion we received after the previous round.
Our current rules allow participants to request/offer any combination of the seven permitted drabble types. This means that a participant could theoretically opt out of requesting or offering single drabbles (i.e., a drabble of exactly 100 words). In other words, participants could exclusively request longer drabble types if they wished.
We received feedback that it may be more in the spirit of the exchange if participants could not opt out of single drabbles. We think this makes sense, and have drafted the following rule change:
Under this new rule, you would still be able to request/offer the full range of drabble types we permit in this exchange—you would just not be able to opt out of single drabbles, specifically.
If you feel there are additional factors or perspectives we should consider, please do leave a comment below, email us, or leave a comment on the Mod Contact Post (where it will be automatically screened).
Admin: Poll: Challenge tags

Today's topic: We mods have been talking about the challenge tags (c: amnesty, c: science, etc.) These tags label an entry as responding to a particular prompt (or being part of an amnesty round).
We're not sure if anyone's actually using these! So we wanted to check in with you all before deciding between A) removing them entirely, or B) leaving only the ones from the last 12 months (and only tagging amnesty posts with the amnesty tag). Option A) would make our mod lives easier, but if they are serving a purpose for some of you, we definitely want to take that into account when making our decision. :-)
If we remove the challenge tags, we will change the standard subject-line format for all rounds to "[challenge]: [fandom]: [medium]: [title]", ie, the same as the current format for amnesty rounds. Community members are welcome to go back and add the challenge to the subject lines of previous entries, too (though we know that for some of you, that would be a Herculean task!).
Please take a moment to vote in this poll.
How do you use the challenge tags here?
I don't use them.
9 (64.3%)
I use them to find new-to-me fanworks for a specific prompt.
2 (14.3%)
I use them to filter out fanworks that don’t interest me.
0 (0.0%)
I use them to find specific fanworks on the community that are already familiar to me.
1 (7.1%)
I use them (in addition to my maker tag) to find my own fanworks.
4 (28.6%)
I use them some other way. (Please elaborate in the comments.)
1 (7.1%)
So that's what those tags are! I never knew!

[#266 | A Walk in the Park] Challenge Post

Challenge 266: A WALK IN THE PARK |
What could be easier? It’s just a nice stroll through the park. A relaxing summer evening, a crisp fall morning, an afternoon with the kids… But maybe it’s not quite that simple. Maybe the weather’s out to get your characters – a relaxing walk is interrupted by rain, snow, or lightning. Maybe the park has been overrun with wild geese, and now you’re facing a gauntlet of angry birds just to get to the picnic tables. Or maybe no matter how hard your characters try, getting an afternoon off from saving the world just isn’t happening. So how does their walk in the park go? Do they get to enjoy it? Write a story about a walk in the park. If your submission features birds (of any species), it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting! |
Challenge ends Monday, July 14 at 9:00PM EST. • Post submissions as new entries using the template in the profile • Tag this week's entries as: [#] submission, 266 – a walk in the park • If you have questions about this challenge, please ask them here |

I am not usually an icon maker, but I saw this challenge and couldn't resist. My favorite magical creature is Feo Ul, a pixie from the Final Fantasy XIV MMORPG. Pixies are playful and love to play tricks on non-pixie races. Feo Ul is a rare pixie who works in conjunction with the player character, and eventually Feo Ul becomes Titania (King of the Pixies).

As usual, if you've been following the Minimum Track, you're done for now! Same if you've been following the Medium Track; you've got a good set of moods ready to go. If you've been following the Maximum track, you've got a week ahead of you before the official schedule starts again. And if you've been doing your own thing, you probably know what's up better than I do 😉
Some options for this week:
- Upload your images and install your mood theme, or as much of it as you have ready
- Go back and revisit any moods you're not quite happy with; maybe you can come up with something better?
- Look ahead to future moods; there might be some you want to get a jump on, especially to make the rest of the track you're on shorter...
- Stop by any moods you may have skipped because you were having trouble with them; now's the perfect time to take another look
- Just legitimately take a break; making a mood theme is hard work, and you've earned it!
However you spend this break week, I hope it goes well for you!
