Sep. 18th, 2017 12:06 amI've been really grumpy this weekend.
Sebastian peed in our closet also so that's four places he peed that's not a litter box in two days.
Since he's not my cat he's been banned from our room and I'm keeping the door shut.
Our cat is the only one allowed in.
And our AC is broken again...
So I've just been going around grumpy all weekend.

Date: 2017-09-18 06:24 am (UTC)Half my frustration is that it's not my cat. My Boocat has never peed on the floor. Our deceased cats did pee on the floor but it was usually because they were ill. On occasion our Siamese would spite pee but it involved eye contact and was usually if the box was dirty or we'd left on vacation.
I don't know if it's illness or territorial (all three cats were in our room during the Hurricane because it was the safest room) so he could be marking territory...
But usually when a cat pees on the floor it's only once. So it's just clean up, check cat box cleanliness, figure out if vet's intervention is necessary and it's done...
But Sebastian is clearly doing it out of spite and apparently frequently pees on my roommate's belongings (her room reeks) and it's not my cat.
If he were mine his ass would be at a vets office for testing.
Personally I think he's one of those cats who do best in single cat homes...
But cat pee is normally a rare issue outside of the cat box.

Date: 2017-09-18 05:00 pm (UTC)I can certainly understand not wanting to interfere with the keeping of pets by others. I have a friend from university who has a cat. Occasionally there are tweets about the cat throwing up *somewhere* and her being unable to find where it happened for several days.
Either way, I'm probably still too squeemish about those things. I know that if I ever get a pet, it'll be a cat. But considering all the rules I'd have for the cat and my inexperience with being a pet owner, I'd probably go for an outdoor cat. Right now, I don't have the right place for that. I mean, there isn't too much traffic, but I'm living on the first floor and not the ground floor, so that would be a hindrance.
Yes, there are all kinds of cats. My friend (from above) adopted a slightly older cat and she was told it's a one pet kind of cat. The last time I stayed overnight at her place the cat gave me a (sligjt) scratch on my last day. It almost felt like a goodbye. Either that or it was a threat to finally free up the living room at night again as my friend typically leaves the door opened, but it was closed for me to avoid surprises during the night. I wish she would live closer, so I could visit more often.
I keep thinking I should start smaller. My friend started with mices, but I think I need the more independent cats. I just know I'm likely to adopt in the hope that the people in the shelters would know what kind of cats they have and I can just say "I need a cat for beginners."
