dani_meowsI managed to get about 14 hours of sleep last night. Yay! Then I went to the market with Ian and bought a few interesting things... and impulse bought shitake mushrooms because they looked fantastic and I remember all the ingredients for five ingredient rice without needing a cookbook.
Today though is a turkey, egg, and carrot soboro (three separate finely chopped dishes served over rice) which I'll cook for the afternoon meal. I'm also trying Sekihan (Japanese Azuki Beans & Rice) which is a festival sweet dish that sounded delicious and easy to make. I do cook other food besides Japanese dishes but rice is cheap... and the recipes use less meat... which reduces our grocery spending... although organic chicken usually isn't cheap. But it tastes better.
The boys are both being well behaved but talkative cats. They are singing songs of pet me, pet me.... no don't pet me... but do look at me.... hello mommy, hello fern, hello wall... got to love cats.
Ian's work week has begun and he has a test today... Poor boy.

I also have some tasks to do today that I'm waiting for daylight for. Laundry, mopping, vacuuming... aka the fun stuff.
