State Of The Fandoms

Since I can't sleep I might as well babble. I was going to head to sleep but then I realized I might as well stay up and make Ian breakfast for the day since it's 20 minutes until six.
This seems a perfect time to babble on the state of interest I have in fandoms:
Agents Of Shield: Loved Season One. Haven't watched past that beyond a few scenes because the dynamic I loved was the team before all the angst and betrayal. Also happy fluffy Fitzsimmons is my jam. Angsty stuff not so much. Also I finished season one the day the Season 2 finale aired. Fitzsimmons being basically divorced followed by Jemma getting sucked up into a space rock. No thanks. I'll pass. But I also feel I should watch it so I might one day watch the rest of it. But I hate long term angst and season 2 sounds like it'll be a long angsty slog until anything is happy.
Harry Potter: Always and Forever. I should probably watch Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Doctor Who: I quit watching during Season 7 part B. I never warmed up to Clara. I hated what Moffat did in undoing the time war. I'm not certain how I feel about a female Doctor if not done correctly it could be terrible. Season one and Season 5 remain my two favorite seasons. My favorite Doctors are Nine and Eleven. I'm currently doing a rewatch of episodes. I'm on season one. I may try the last season because I've heard it had some improvement and I may watch now that a new actor is at the helm.
Once Upon A Time: I have grown to hate this show with same intensity I once loved it. After season 3 it went to shit and I kept holding on hoping it would get better again. I finally gave up my dvds to a friend that still loves the show because literally all they care about is Regina and I still don't regret it even though I owned Seasons 1-5. I still own my captain Swan funkos but it's Once Upon a huge disappointment to me. I may still make the occasional icon because the screencaps are pretty but I'll never go back or love it the way I once did.
Star Trek: I finished season one of the classic series, I want to watch the rest. I love it. I didn't enjoy the new movies despite the one in 2009 starting me on my Star Trek journey.
Noragami: I love this anime it's perfect.
Star Wars: I really love the new series and Rey. I ship Reylo.
Sherlock BBC: I hated seasons 3 and 4. I'm still upset that they opened season 3 with a huge joke and never explained exactly how he survived. Stop killing the sad scenes after two years with a joke damnit. Unlike OUAT the whole show and fandom doesn't leave a bad taste in my mouth. I could be lured back with cookies.

Date: 2017-07-31 09:31 pm (UTC)I actually quite like Clara, although, I can't help but think that they've given 11 two "impossible" girls. First Amy with that rift and then Clara with her many incarnations. I think what I liked most about her was that she wasn't in it for the Doctor, but for the adventure.
The same goes for Bill (the latest companion) who's lesbian and pretty much pushes the Doctor into a mentor/parental role. I've done a mini marathon yesterday and watched episodes 5-9. In a way, it reminds me of the classic Doctor's I've watched (like the 5th or even the first). I also like that all episodes stand on their own so far. The last two episodes go together, but the rest is on it's own more or less.
I'm also uncertain about what I feel about the current time war status. On one side, it could open up to a great many possibilities, but on the other hand...
Star Trek: I remember watching several classic episodes last year and I'm sure I reached season 2, but I wouldn't be on not skipping episodes at one point. I used to be a big fan in the late 90s, but at some point I just got out of it and aside from the movies and the classic series that's all I've gotten back into :)
Star Wars: I also loved Rey! She was awesome. I think if I were to venture into fanfiction for it, I might be tempted by Rey/Finn/Poe, but let's be real. There would be more focus on how BB8 can be the love child of C3PO and R2D2. That's far more important :D
Sherlock BBC: I can barely remember that first episode of season 3. What I can remember the most is Lestrade's reaction to seeing Sherlock. It made my Sherlock/Lestrade shipper heart melt. Oh, and the scenes where Sherlock here's John's voice while he's not there on the crime scenes - I found that pretty weird. If I ever post Post Reichenbach fics, it's going to be my own version of how he survived. And that Mycroft had no clue he survived or had had any hand in the plan.

Date: 2017-08-01 02:23 am (UTC)Bill I'm interested in so maybe I'll take a chance.
I bought the original series on dvd when it was on sale for 30 dollars so I own it, I just need to finish it.
I like Finn/Rey/Poe but Reylo has some of the best creators and they lured me in with well written fic and art.
But excellent fic choice. ^_^
That was a good scene so was John getting rescued from the fire thing but the rest was rather lack luster.
