What can I say about myself? I should have an introduction page.

Hi, My name is Danielle. I go by Dani or Dani Rose. I turn 40 in May. I'm trying to find the enjoyment I used to get in blogging and making icons as well as participating in things but I haven't gotten to much of a start since one of my Cats is currently in the hospital.

I love Harry Potter fanfictions. I have mixed feelings about JK Rowling because I haven't read her essay myself and I've seen mixed opinions on her but Harry Potter was a great comfort to me as an abused teenager who wanted to kill myself until I finally ran away from home at age 18. I read almost anything. I have a soft spot for fanfictions where Harry gets the family he deserves.

I loved Bridgerton Season 1 but haven't yet watched Season 2 because Netflix raised their prices but I will.

I love Doctor Who. I haven't watched the series since Clara came on board although I've tried a few times it hasn't felt right.

I love videogames such as Stardew Valley, Dreamlight Valley, Banished, The Sims....

I still read the occasional MCU Or Miraculous Lady Bug fanfiction that catches my eye but I wouldn't say I'm actively seeking them.


I love languages and I study German on Duolingo, alongside Latin, Spanish and Italian. But mostly German because I took classes in my 20's and I know how to pronounce things.

Oh yeah, I'm married and have six cats. My childhood best friend is our roommate and we're a happy little family.

Sometimes a family is a girl, her husband, their five cats, her childhood bestie and her cat...

I started out with posting Stargate stories and one Stargate/Buffy crossover (mostly in German with some translated) and at least some attempted Star Trek stories. However, Harry Potter really pushed me out there - trying out slash (although I do remember reading a rather explicit Fox Mulder/Tom Paris (X-Files/Star Trek Voyager) early on before I tried my hand at writing) and just jumping at the deep end with how varied my writing got - from plots to pairings to tropes. So, it kind of feels like a first because while it might not have been the first, it did lead to a lot of fandom firsts.

Maybe it already started in the late 11th era. I do remember a lot of WTF moments when it came to the 12th Doctor and I hated how they dealt with Clara leaving.

Wow, I hadn't heard anything about John Barrowman sexually harassing people. Not sure if I'm just that far away from any Doctor Who related news or if he just isn't well known enough in Germany to make it into the news. Not that I'm typically that current on any kind of news. Then again, I'm not sure when I last heard anything related to John Barrowman. Probably while I tried watching the third season of Torchwood and just couldn't bring myself to care about the storyline at all.

Not sure if it's just me or not, but whenever people boycott a movie / TV show or whatever due to one actor / actress doing something bad I feel kind of weird. I get not wanting to support someone depending on what they did (how bad it is and whether it was accidental/intentional) and everyone can do whatever they want on that front - still, there are all the other people involved with a movie or TV show. Should they be punished as well? I can't quite believe that everyone would be aware of everything a coworker has done or has the power to do something. Maybe I'm too good at separating a fictional character from the actor/actress behind that role. Or too invested in those fictional characters...

I ended up hearing about it and reading about it when around the time of the second special Billie Piper and Christopher Eccleston did a fan convention and he was asked what it would take for him to come back to Doctor Who and he said it would take firing Russel T Davies and all of the producers that worked on season 1 and have now come back.

It was a scathing interview and in the comments and on Reddit people linked to older information about John Barrowmen's behavior on set and how those in charge laughed it off.

I felt season 2 ended my interest in Torchowood mostly because Tosh and Owen were my favorites and without them I wasn't interested.

I think it depends on whether or not I can separate the two. When the news about Bill Cosby came out I couldn't watch his shows or read his comedy book that had always made me laugh because his character was part of his persona.

With John Barrowman I don't think I have that problem as much because he's more Jack to me than he is the actor. Not really paying attention to the actors most of the time comes in handy!

A cute part of the interview was when Chris advocated that Billie should play a version of the Doctor in the future! That could be fun especially if they show the doctor noticing that he now looks like an older Rose!

I guess it helps that I rarely if ever get invested or even read about an actor's / actress' private life enough to even know how much of them goes into a role...

The laughing it off is the worst part. There are people that are shameless and some that probably take nude scenes (and there had been one, although I'm not sure if that's when it happened) with some kind of humour. There's also crossing the line and there should have been consequences for it. It's only fun when everyone is laughing/amused. Good for Christopher Eccleston to sticking to his convictions though.

A Doctor that looks like Rose would be a lot of fun! My first thought was to write "Rose as the Doctor" and - well, we've got the Bad Wolf. Everything is possible :D :D

I wasn't too keen on Owen if I remember correctly, but I loved Tosh. I hated that they killed both of them at the end of Season 2. That probably didn't help on top of the plot for Season 3 - or that the season was pretty much a multi-parter with nothing else.
