Bill was a really great character. Although I was a tiny bit made about the final episode with her. I didn't like that it went full on down the hill, but there was also a "she got the girl" moment that I really enjoyed.
I kind of liked and disliked Missy as the Master. I think there were plenty of missed opportunities there. Calling her Missy was just - well, looking at those two words in comparison right now it almost seems like "Master" is not right for a woman, let's do a cutesy version of it. Not sure if I ever noticed that before.
I think I got out of the fandom for the most part during the era of the 12th doctor already and even while I was watching the newer episodes, I didn't really get back into it. Although, I do think I at least noted down a story idea somewhere where the female doctor decides to search out Jack to get a full test run of the new body parts. Because Jack definitely would be willing to help on that front :D
Maybe that's true about it being more in the face political and less fun that's the difference. Or maybe it's because the world has seemingly become so politically divided on all kinds of ends. I feel as if there's so much less middle ground to walk on when it comes to that.
I think I haven't watched since the first season with the 13th doctor and I don't even know how many seasons there had been since. Which is kind of a shame as I liked several episodes and the new companions, but I just didn't get the cohesive, fun vibe it used to have which didn't make me want to watch more.
