It's easy not being scared or even bothered if you've never gone through something and/or won't be affected. I can say I've never been phased by any of the many disasters on TV (earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, tsunamis and whatever is out there) - it's what nature is like.
However, I have to say it feels a bit different to realise I know someone who's affected and I'm not sure if knowing what you're going through would make it easier compared to not having a clue.
I think when you're facing nature like that - not being afraid means you're dead.
Guess we have very good weather scientists here. It also makes me wonder what people did before there were satellites in the orbit to spot them early.
