Harry Potter wasn't necessarily my first fandom if we go by things I wrote fanfiction and shared but most of the others were only shared amongst school friends. Written in notebook paper during classes and shared between them.
But Harry Potter was the first one I shared online that I grew and blossomed in, felt a sense of belonging in, looked forward to the new books and speculated with I don't think I could quit it.
I enjoy almost every variety of fanfiction but I have an extra soft spot for ones with a parental Sirius keeping Harry safe.
During 11's era as doctor I began to feel kind of frustrated and then bored with the stories. I really didn't like the story and the implications of River Song especially as she felt like a sociopath. But I didn't want to quit watching because Ian and I enjoyed watching it together... that after the first Clara episode when Ian said he was bored, I shared I was too and we quit watching.
I heard about some episodes and tried a 12 and Bill episode but the magic wasn't there. I heard about the Timeless Children episode during 13's run and was horrified at the idea that the Galifreyan's stole regeneration from the Doctor and that their were a ton of lives before the first one. I don't like them changing that much canon especially since the big finish stories apparently talk about the Doctor's family. Including his older brother.
Tried the new special. Even David Tennant and RTD didn't make me feel the magic. They are keeping the change as canon. Then I heard what Christopher Eccleston had to say about what would make him come back to Doctor Who and found out that Russel T Davies was okay with John Barrowman sexually harassing people by taking his penis out and hitting people's shoulders with it.
That horrifies me.
So for me Doctor Who is firmly the Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Doctor's eras with a focus of fanfictions that center around the Doctor/Rose and Jack who I've separated in my mind from the actor that played him.
