Those sound lovely! If they taste as good as they sound, you need to share the recipes :)

I don't know if there's something that changes people as they age and some are just spared (or just "get" it later in life) so they're super grumpy all the time. Or the need for control rises as some things become more difficult with age for various reasons(at least that's what I think might be behind my grandmother complaining more about every day stuff)
